It’s been a rough few weeks for the spoken word. Many reminders of things better left unsaid. Cringeworthy statements uttered without rebuttal. What passes for public debate nowadays is coarsened, debased and filled with falsehoods.

American culture invented the Hollywood western. The Dallas Cowboys are America’s team. The wisdom of the West is often described as “horse sense.”

When it comes to the hatred of global Jewry, unnecessary roughness is not a penalty but rather pay dirt. Many receive great satisfaction treating Jews as tackling dummies—blaming and besmirching them; resenting their success; cheering their losses. Antisemitism comes with a scorecard, and the smart money is always betting against the Jews.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day has now come and gone. It wouldn’t be such a bad idea for it to finally be gone for good.
